John Bejarano, 68, of Roswell, New Mexico, passed away on May 26, 2025. He was born on February 6, 1957, in Roswell, where he spent the majority of his life surrounded by family and friends.
John was a proud graduate of Goddard High School, Class of 1975. A talented athlete, he played football at Mesa Middle School and continued on to play for Goddard during his high school years. He went on to serve his country in the Army National Guard, beginning his military service on November 27, 1977.
John joined the City of Roswell Fire Department in 1990, where he rose through the ranks to become a driver. He served the department and the community with dedication for 20 years before retiring in 2010. Even before his retirement, John began working part-time at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in 2007, later transitioning to full-time after his retirement from the fire department. He continued working at Eastern for 17 years, serving as a medical assistant, nurse tech, and CPR instructor.
In addition to his public service, John was a skilled handyman and entrepreneur. He and his late wife owned and operated a successful handyman business, offering reliable help to their community. He also contributed his talents to local organizations, helping build sets and props for folklórico recitals and supporting projects at Miss Minnie’s School of Ballet.
John was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a devoted parishioner at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where his faith was an important part of his life.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife. He is survived by his four children: Phillip, Michael, Sarah, and Hannah; and his cherished grandchildren: Josue, Desmond, Titus, and Adonis.
John enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and building model airplanes. He was happiest when surrounded by friends and family, always ready to lend a helping hand—whether towing a stranger to safety or showing up for a loved one in need. His legacy is one of service, strength, faith, and unwavering kindness.
A Rosary for John will be Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 1:30 pm with Mass to follow at 2:00 pm. Both Rosary and Mass will be held at Assumption Catholic Church.
