Carol Donaho was born on Sept 9, 1940, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Hub and Salma Jones. Carol left this world and made her journey to the gates of heaven on March 3, 2025, and joined her husband, John, of 50 years, and two of her children, Robin and Jay. She passed peacefully, in bed at her home in Riviera, Texas. She was a gentle and loving woman who was cherished by her entire community.
Carol Donaho graduated from Tuloso Midway High School and went to college at Texas A&I in Kingsville, Texas, where she met her husband, John Donaho. They married on July 30th in 1960 and settled in John's hometown of Riviera, where, for many years, they owned and operated Donaho's Grocery Store and later Southern Fried Chicken. Together, with God, they created three beautiful children shaped in his loving image. Robin came first, followed by her younger brother Jay and last came Johnna Carol. Carol served God and her community with diligence and unyielding love. She became a language arts teacher at Riviera ISD in 1991, where she taught alongside Twyla Murr and Jesse Sanchez, among many others. She continued to substitute teach at Riviera ISD years after her retirement. Carol's students cherished her, easygoing and loving presence. Many of them will carry her in their memory.
"Memaw" loved her gospel music, singing and playing the piano!
Carol Donaho is survived by her daughter Johnna and her two grandchildren, Peyton and Chayce. Carol lived for her family like no other. She was the cornerstone of life and love itself. Her light and warmth will continue to shine down from heaven as she smiles upon countless lives she's touched throughout her life. Amen.
A visitation for Carol will be held on Sunday March 9, 2025, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary from 4:30 PM to 9 PM. A funeral service will take at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary the following day March 10, 2025, at 10 AM, with a burial to follow at Riviera Cemetery.
