Carol Lee (Drake) Drees, daughter of Roland and Helen (Davis) Drake, was born January 21, 1935, at home in Coon Rapids, Iowa. She attended country school until 8th grade then went to town school in Coon Rapids. In town she learned to play basketball and was a star forward. At 18 she went to the University of Northern Iowa where she received a Teacher Certificate in lower elementary education.

In 1954 she met Herbert Drees and they married in Templeton in 1955. Their happy marriage lasted almost 64 years until Herb's death. Herb, Carol and family lived in Iowa and Wisconsin before settling in State Center, Iowa in 1972. While in State Center, Carol formed and taught at the Busy Bee preschool for 23 years. She also served on the West Marshall School board. After retirement, the couple wintered in San Juan, Texas. Their final move was to Cheyenne, Wyoming to be closer to family.

Carol is survived by five children (oldest to youngest): Pamela (Roger) Rehurek, Audrey Bourgeois, Kirk (Pamela) Drees, Lisa (Esteban) Ramirez, and Eric (Cami) Drees; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and her sister Laura Jean (Drake) Keenan.
