Carol Ann Dubbert
December 29, 1935 – February 28, 2026
Carol Ann Dubbert, 90, passed away on February 28, 2026, in
Mesa, Arizona. Born in
Port Clinton, Ohio, on December 29, 1935, she was the daughter of Ernest and Helen (Juby) Dubbert.
Life and Career
A graduate of Port Clinton High School in 1954, Carol spent her entire professional career with the Northern Ohio Telephone Company. She began her career at age 16 as an after-school operator and later moved into office and dispatch roles. She eventually returned to the switchboard, finishing her career as a telephone operator. Carol was a devoted daughter, providing years of loving care for her mother until her mother's passing at the age of 90.
Adventures and the West
Following her mother's death, Carol moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to live with her sister, Marlene. During this chapter of her life, she embraced new experiences, including discovering a love for Trader Joe's and Starbucks, where she developed a particular fondness for iced chai tea lattes. She learned to use a smart phone and would call her sister in Costco to let her know where she was in the store. She also developed a taste for Lilly Barrack jewelry especially the rings and monthly went to their stores in
Albuquerque, NM &
Scottsdale, AZ. She also discovered and visited Marshalls & HomeGoods at least once a week. She loved caring for her sister's cats, especially Kiefel, while Marlene and her husband traveled. For her 80th birthday, her sister treated her to a trip to Las Vegas to see Celine Dion in concert. In 2020, Carol and Marlene left Albuquerque, spending a year in Laughlin, Nevada, during the pandemic. An avid fan of slot machines, Carol found humor in the fact that she received her vaccinations at a casino. In 2021, Carol moved to
Mesa, AZ. She loved the desert landscape and remained unfazed by the intense Arizona summers, even when temperatures reached 116°F. Shortly before her 90th birthday in late 2025, she celebrated with her family at a Phoenix Suns vs. Golden State Warriors game. She was amazed at how much entertainment was going on in the arena while she had to watch ads when she watched at home on TV. The Sun's won by 1 point.
