Carol Anne (Myrtle) Faler, 88, of
Cresco, PA, passed away surrounded by loved ones on the night of Sunday, July 6, 2025 at the Monroe County Hospice House. She was the wife of the late Philip B. Faler, with whom she spent fifty-four happy years of marriage.
Carol was born on April 16, 1937 in Plattsburgh, NY to William Joseph Myrtle, Sr. and Grace Ursula (Royle) Myrtle. She was the first of six children and spent her childhood in Newark, NJ, Irvington, NJ, and Canada. She skipped three grades, graduated, and entered the convent at the age of 14, where she spent 1.5 years. In the following years, Carol lived in many places, including Germany and Tacoma, WA, where she met the love of her life, Phil. They were married in Maplewood, NJ on May 22, 1970 and spent some years there and in Sloatsburg, NY before settling in the Poconos for the remainder of their lives. She managed photography businesses and later worked in real estate. For many years, she was very active in her Catholic Church, volunteering and teaching Catechism.
Carol saw the best in everyone and taught her family to walk in gratitude. She was passionate about learning, her favorite subject being history, and enjoyed entertaining guests, browsing at stores, and listening to music, especially songs played by her husband and children.
Carol is predeceased by her husband; her parents; her brothers William and Edward Myrtle; her sister Barbara Grace Bambrick; and her son Jack Faler. Carol is survived by her sisters, Mary Elizabeth Saunders and Eileen Beatrice Cross; her brother-in-law Robert Cross; her children, Mark W. Faler and wife Patti Faler, Kristine M. (Faler) Bender and husband Joseph M. Bender, and Philip W. Faler; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
