New Iberia, LA - A home-going celebration of life for Ms. Carol A. Jenkins, 64, will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Fletcher Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin T. Jenkins, officiating.
Interment will follow at Saint Matthew Cemetery (Patout Road) in Patoutville, LA.
Visitation hours will be observed at Fletcher Funeral Home on Saturday, April 8, 2023, beginning at 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
She was a resident of
New Iberia, LA. She transitioned from earth to eternity at 7:26 P.M. on Friday, March 31, 2023, at Ochsner University Hospital & Clinics in Lafayette, LA. She was surrounded by her family, along with her siblings she was reared in the home of her parents on People's Plantation in rural Iberia Parish, LA.
Carol Ann Jenkins was born, along with her twin brother, on February 7th, 1959, to the union of the Rev. Oliver Jenkins, Jr. and Mrs. Sarah Charles Jenkins in Patoutville, LA.
Carol Ann Jenkins was baptized at an early age at the Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Patoutville, LA by the Rev. Joseph Clay, Jr. Along with her parents and siblings, she faithfully attended Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Upon moving to New Iberia as an adult, she became a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church of
New Iberia, LA under the leadership of the Rev. Joseph Clay, Jr., Rev. Lenel Watson, and Rev. Leonard Keyes.
She then began attending and became a part of The Historic Nazareth Baptist Church of Jeanerette (Little Woods) and Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church of Jeanerette (Sorrel), under the leadership of her nephew, Pastor Kevin T. Jenkins. She was a faithful member of both churches and was always present when she did not have to work.
She attended Iberia Parish Schools as a young girl growing up. As an adult she worked in the food service industry at Iberia General Medical Center and Heritage Manor Nursing Homes in New Iberia.
Carol was a very loving and kind person who knew no stranger. She especially enjoyed spending quality time with all her family and her dearest and closest friends. She was a woman of integrity who always wanted to dress nice and have her hair done regardless of where she was going. She will truly be missed.
She leaves to cherish her memories her four sons: Kawaski (Natasha) Jenkins of Lafayette, LA, Jeremy (Ta'Keisha) Jenkins of Youngsville, LA, Jazman Jenkins of Seagoville, TX, and Donovan Jenkins of Carencro, LA; twelve grandchildren: two great grandchildren: Kingston Jarell Allen and Kaidence Jyrell Allen, given to her by her granddaughter: Kavin Jenkins; five brothers: Oliver Jenkins of Kenner, LA, Profit Jenkins, Sr., and Wilfred (Tashanna) Jenkins of
New Iberia, LA; her twin brother: Calvin (Diane) Jenkins and Shelby Jenkins of Lafayette, LA; two maternal aunts: Violet Charles Moncriffe and Mary Charles Castle both of Jeanerette, LA; three godchildren: Bryanna Steward, Nina Walker, and MaShyne Narcisse; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents: Rev. Oliver Jenkins, Jr. and Mrs. Sarah Charles Jenkins; her maternal grandparents: Albert Charles, Sr. and Leotha Bernard Charles; her paternal grandparents: Oliver Jenkins, Sr. and Amelia Smith Jenkins; four sisters: Martha Jenkins Willis, Mary Jenkins Vallian, Betty Jenkins Morris, and Baby Amelia Jenkins; four brothers: Chester Jenkins, Sr., Wesley Jenkins, Baby Oliver Jenkins, and Baby Lloyd Jenkins; her dearest and only daughter: Tracie Marie Jenkins; and three grandchildren.
Active pallbearers are Christopher J. Joseph, Johnny Sion, and Peter D. Vallian, Jacque Colbert, Darrien George, and Kamal Woods.
Honorary pallbearers are Kawaski Jenkins, Jeremy Jenkins, Jazman Jenkins, Donovan Jenkins, Oliver Jenkins, Profit Jenkins, Sr., Wilfred Jenkins, Calvin Jenkins, and Shelby Jenkins.
