Billy “Bill” Jo Jenkins, 74, of Elkin, North Carolina passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025. Born March 30, 1951, to the late Cephus L. and Mattie Mae Childress Jenkins. Bill served the Lord as a preacher for 55 years. He spent 34 of those years as pastor at Welcome Valley Baptist Church. He pastored 5 other churches as well during his ministry. He held an associate’s degree and worked for many years at Surry Central High School as carpentry and special education teacher. While at Surry Central he served as the head wrestling, tennis, and softball coach, as well as assistant football coach. He was most proud of his time as wrestling coach, where he was the 1st coach at Surry Central to have 3 state champion wrestlers. In his free time, he enjoyed going to antique malls and markets. He was married for 55 years to the love of his life, Patricia. Whenever you seen one, the other was surely to follow close behind. He will be missed by many. He had so many friends, big and small, and cherished the children of his church most. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Patricia McCollum Jenkins; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph “Joey” Allan Jenkins and Kimberly; granddaughters, Lauren Jenkins Brantley and Josh, and Leslie Jenkins Stouffer and Jordan; and great granddaughter, JosieLynn Brantley. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Ann Trivette; and brother, James “Allen” Jenkins. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Welcome Valley Baptist Church in Elkin, NC from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Welcome Valley Baptist Church in Elkin, NC with Rev. Terry Coe, Dr. Zane Fishel, Rev. Mark Reece Jr., and Rev.
