Visitation will be Friday, July 25th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Hargrove-Maker Funeral Home, 815 W. Main St, Jenks, OK 74037. After a private burial at Green Hill Cemetery in Sapulpa, a celebration of Carol Ann's life will be held at 11:00 am at King's Cross Presbyterian Church, 9999 S. 49th W. Ave., Sapulpa, OK 74066.

Carol Ann Johnson, formerly of Sapulpa, OK, passed away peacefully in her sleep during the early morning hours of July 16th, 2025 after a brave battle with Alzheimer's disease at the age of 81.

Born to James and Dorothy Finegan on November 10th, 1943 in Tulsa, OK, Carol Ann grew up in the small town of Sapulpa alongside her sister, Pat. She was very close to her maternal grandmother, affectionately known as "Bobo". After a stint with the Campfire Girls in elementary school, she ultimately graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1962 where she enjoyed singing in the girls' sextet.

Carol Ann enrolled at Oklahoma State University where she dated and eventually married Ron Ferguson on August 24th, 1963. They moved to Germany where Ron served in the US Army and welcomed their first addition to the family, Dana Darlene.

The young couple eventually settled in Wichita, KS where Ron worked as an engineer for The Boeing Company and they welcomed their second addition to the family, Kenneth Lee. She established lifelong friendships with many people in Wichita, especially Marilyn Kuhlman, Helen Nelson and Geri Ulmer. Carol Ann remained a stay at home mom, helping Ron raise Dana and Ken through high school until they divorced in 1984.

Carol Ann returned to her beloved city of Sapulpa and eventually became a secretary in Student Health Services at Tulsa Community College where she worked for many years. She got reacquainted with her former high school boyfriend, Charles "Charlie" Johnson at their 30th high school reunion, and they married on June 4th, 1996.

Carol Ann and Charlie had many good years of marriage together, reestablishing friendships with their high school classmates. They spent many memorable weekends together at Grand Lake where they had a second home next to Charlie's parents, Paul and Virginia Durham.

Charlie took great care of Carol Ann when she started showing symptoms of Alzheimer's, researching treatments and supporting her with love while painfully watching her memories fade away. Charlie became ill and passed away in April of 2023, which necessitated Carol Ann's move to an assisted living facility in Texas near her son, Ken.

Carol Ann spent 2 years at Fleurdley's Assisted Living in a very warm and caring environment until a provision in her long term care insurance contract required her to move to a skilled nursing facility and ultimately spent the last months of her life at The Pavillion at Creekwood in Mansfield, TX.

Carol Ann was preceded in death by her parents James and Dorothy Finegan, her beloved husband of 27 years Charlie Johnson, her father-in-law Paul Durham, her granddaughter Olivia Anne Ferguson, and her niece Krista Beck.

She is survived by her son Ken Ferguson and his wife, Lisa of Arlington, TX. Her daughter Dana Pistole and her husband Mark of Stuart, FL. Her sister Pat Finegan Beck and her husband Richard of Montgomery, TX. Her granddaughter Morgan Pistole of Los Angeles, CA. Her granddaughter Emma Smithers and her husband Dawson of Arlington, TX. Her grandson Zachary Muscanere of Ft. Worth, TX. Her great granddaughter Eden Muscanere of Granbury, TX. Her niece Phoebe Mattingly of Tulsa, OK. Her mother-in-law Virginia Durham of Bluffton, SC. Her brother-in-law Brad Durham of Carlisle, MA. Her sister-in-law Denise Bode and her husband John of Easton, MD, and numerous other extended family members and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Fleurdley's Assisted Living, as well as the staffs of The Pavillion at Creekwood and of Freedom Hospice for their great care of Carol Ann as she made her transition to her heavenly home. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Alzheimer's Association (ALZ.ORG).
