Carol F. Joy (Wittekind), age 89, of Weymouth passed away early morning of Monday, October 20, 2025. Carol was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain. She married her husband, James in 1956. They started a family in Dorchester before settling in Weymouth in 1962 where they have resided since while making countless memories with their family.
Carol Joy was a proud and loving matriarch whose greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her warmth, strength, and resourcefulness shaped three generations and created a legacy of love that will live on forever. Carol enjoyed art and ceramics but her greatest pleasure came from time spent with her family, especially during the holidays.
Carol was predeceased by her former husband, James Joy, her son John Joy, and her grandson Christopher Esposito. She is survived by her loving children Christine Esposito and her companion John Hall of Abington, Debra Abdon and her husband James of Weymouth, Carolyn Reilly of Taunton, Joanne Howell and her husband Jay of Arizona, James Joy Jr. of Braintree, Dianne Olafson and her husband Erik of Tennessee, her daughter-in-law Peggy Joy of Hanover and Jeffrey Joy and his wife Kerin of Halifax. She will be dearly missed by her cherished grandchildren Michael, Joy, Jimmy, Kaitlyn, Johnny, Timothy, Jessica, Jamie, Jenna, Matthew, Megan, Ashley, Anna, Joshua, Emily, Ryan, Jake, Nash, Makenzie, and Kamryn, and her beloved great-grandchildren River, Michael, Riley, Owen, Noelle, Wells, Waylon, Woodson, Hayden, Kallum, and Julia.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Sunday, October 26, 2025 from 2-5pm at C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.), Weymouth, MA. A Celebration of Life Prayer Service will be held Monday at 9am in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am at St. Francis Xavier Church, South Weymouth. Internment will follow at Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree, MA.
To honor Carol's memory, donations may be made by sending flowers or in Carol's name to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital at www.StJude.org.
