Carol Yvonne Cox Markiewicz, 79, of Carrollton, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Cox and Clara Ables Cox. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald Joseph Markiewicz; daughter, Robin Bryen (Allen); son, Scott Markiewicz (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Jaymee (Tommy), Tori, Benjamin and Christopher; great grandchildren, Jasper, Tommy Lee IV and Jacob; her sister, Nancy Mayfield; and two nephews.
Carol was born in Kansas to a military father, and grew up on the family farm in Nebraska. She married Donald on November 7, 1964. Together they raised two children, Scott and Robin. She graduated from Bellevue University in 1996, worked for and retired from Harris Corporation as a financial Analyst. Carol and Donald moved to VA in 2012, and they joined Smithfield Baptist Church where she was the leader of her Sunday School Class. Carol volunteered for Christian Outreach. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 1:00 pm, at Smithfield Baptist Church.
