Carol Goldwater Nelson was born in Grantsville, Utah on March 9th, 1937. She passed away on July 12th, 2024, at Sunridge Assisted Living in Roy, Utah.

Carol was born in the front bedroom of her Grandma Anderson’s house in Grantsville, Utah. She was the third child of Marcus and Mary Gustaveson Goldwater. She had two older siblings, Don and Lorraine.

Carol’s biological mother passed away when she was just 13 months old. She was too young for her biological father to take care of her, so her uncle and aunt, Al and Mae Gustaveson, raised her. Her biological father later married Lillie Waldron and had a very close and loving relationship with Carol.

Carol spent her younger childhood years in Tooele, Utah. She moved to Salt Lake City, Utah when she was 13 years old. She graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City. On September 7, 1954, she married Robert Kay Nelson. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on March 27, 1961. She lived in Layton, Utah for most of her adult life. She raised five children. Danny Kay Nelson (Deanne), Robert Alan Nelson, Susan Nelson Tubbs (Kim), Craig Lee Nelson (Kathy), and Rusty Gerald Nelson (Michelle). She has 22 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She loved to go camping and traveling with her friends and family. She also loved to go deer hunting. She enjoyed gardening and bottling fruits and vegetables. She was very talented and proficiently played the accordion, the organ, and the piano. While raising her family, she worked several jobs including B&B Department Store, IRS, and several banks. She spent 19 years in the banking industry and retired from First Security Bank in Centerville, Utah in 1998.

Carol and her husband (Kay) served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They served in the Arizona Tucson Mission (2001-2002) and the Kaysville Deseret Mills Service Mission (2004-2006). She spent her entire life devoted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints religion and served faithfully in many callings within the church.

She has been preceded in death by both her parents, both her siblings Donald Goldwater, Lorraine Williams, her husband Kay, and her second son Bobby and twin grandsons, Jerret Robert Nelson and Jordon William Nelson. She has lived an enjoyable, healthy, and prosperous life. She has maintained numerous friendships throughout her lifetime and is loved by all.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Dr. Joel Porter, and the staff at Sunridge Assisted Living in Roy, Utah for the loving care and attention they provided for Mom.
