Carol Nelson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Powell Funeral Home of Woodruff County on Feb. 6, 2026.
Carol Sue Nelson, 57, of Judsonia, Arkansas departed this life on February 2, 2026.

She was born May 23, 1968 in Augusta, Arkansas to the late Dwane and Bobbie Jo Whatley.

Carol will be remembered as the heart of her family and the joyful spark in every room she entered. She showed her love through home-cooked meals, shared laughter around the table, and treasured moments spent with those she loved most. Known as the family clown, Carol had a quick wit and a playful spirit that could turn any ordinary day into a memory filled with laughter. She also enjoyed the simple thrill of trying her luck on the slot machines, always with a smile and a hopeful grin. Above all, Carol was sweet, kind, and endlessly loving, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and love that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters, Jessica Burnett (Matt) and Jennifer Taylor, her grandchildren, Aspen, Gracie, and Bryan, her siblings, Tammy Atkins (Jody), Donna Everett, and Debbie Moon, her cousin, Bo Whatley, and her nieces and nephews, Kanen Skinner, Nickea Ashby, Joel Neal, Cristie Ashby, Miranda Carter, Lil Leslie Carter, and Faith Ford. She is also survived by a host of extended family and many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Dale Nelson.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Augusta, Arkansas with Brother Bobby Keen officiating. Visitation will be held prior to services from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Augusta Memorial Park in Augusta, Arkansas.

Arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home of Woodruff County.
