Carol Overman Brophy, 85, of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of Ames, Iowa, died Saturday, May 4, 2024, in her home in The Fountains, Bettendorf.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

Carol Glenna Overman Brophy was born July 20, 1938, to Glen and Mildred (Cavanaugh) Overman, in Glenview, Illinois. She married Jerome Brophy on October 9, 1993, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and he passed away on March 23, 2024. She was a member of PEO and worked at Iowa State University, as a secretary, for over 35 years. 

She enjoyed gardening, painting, cooking, loved the color red, celebrating Christmas, collecting rocks, spending time with her cat, going to Mesa, Arizona in the winter with her husband, taking trips to Sanibel Island, and above all else spending time with her family. 

Carol is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Stewart) Haugen and Jennifer (Kyle) Krier; her step-children, Craig (Joyce) Brophy and Brett (Peggy) Brophy; her grandchildren, Alecia Krier, Danny Krier, Elizabeth Haugen, Oscar Haugen, Valerie Brophy, Oscar (Samantha) Brophy, Calvin Brophy, and Payton Brophy; her great-grandchildren, Saige Brophy and Olivia Brophy; and her beloved cat, Lila. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Brophy; and her parents, Glen and Mildred Overman.
