Carol Lynne Lopossa, 86, passed away peacefully on 19 September 2025 in Beaver, Utah.

Carol was born on 8 June 1939 to Mary Theodora Wedemeyer and Walter Cambell Lopossa in Long Beach, CA. She attended school in Long Beach, California, at Willard Elementary, Jefferson Jr High, and Woodrow Wilson High School, graduating with the class of 1957. High school is where she found her passion for sewing. She worked at her parents’ market, Belmont Heights Market, located at 3500 Broadway in Long Beach for many years.

As a young adult, she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended the Long Beach 5th Ward.

She married John T. Stavem on 25 Sept 1960 in Long Beach, CA, and had two sons: Kevin and Mark. Her son, Mark, remembers her as an amazingly creative person, a master of delectable baked delights, a seamstress of one-of-a-kind items, and a holiday gift wrapper with no rival. He remembers her starting conversations with complete strangers, any place, any time. “Through it all, she did her best - and I’ll remember the good times.”

She married again on 30 Dec 1967 in California and gained two children through marriage: JoLynn and Harold “Russ”. She then had two more children: Janet “Susie” and Roger.

She moved with her family to Ireland in 1974, returning to Long Beach in 1977. These three years were full of feeding missionaries, serving in the small LDS church branch in Dublin, traveling extensively through Europe, and immersing herself in all things “Irish”.

In the 80s, she attended Long Beach City College, where she took floral design classes, and spent many years working at All Occasions Florists in Long Beach.

In the mid 90s, she moved to Parowan, UT, and opened The Janet Lynne Bed & Breakfast and Gift Shop, where she sold thousands of Beanie Babies. During her time in Utah, she continued with many hobbies including sewing, baking, yoga, planning parties, giving gifts, garage sales, and shopping for the perfect deal at Dillard's.

In 2011, she served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nauvoo, IL. She spent the rest of her life living in Southern Utah.

She had 23 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, which were always a joy to her.Kevin (Debbie): Jerry (Angie): Zoe [Hayden], Kaya, Nick, Sophia; Jamie: Cody, Shaylee, Lexie [Della], Ryan, Maddox, Miley, Lacey, Daxton; Jason: Aiden, Lainey, Chloe; John: Adrian; Justin;Mark: Ryan; Kali (Chris): Billie;Janet (Kenneth): Thea (Tyler): Aria; Nikolaus;Roger (Stephanie) JoLynn: Robin; Renee; Mathew (Meloney): Faith, Dylan, Tyler; Russ (Tami): Casey (Mike): Auston (Sydney) [Meadow], Wyatt; Christy; Lauren (Troy): Declan, Rhett; Michelle “Shelly” (Justin).

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Walter, brother, Walter Gerald “Jerry”, and daughter-in-law, Debbie.

She is survived by her sister, Janet Smith, her children, Kevin, Mark, Janet, Roger, JoLynn, Russ, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Her family would like to thank the staff of Beaver Valley Hospital Long Term Care for the loving care she received during the last year of her life.

A celebration of life will be held in Parowan, Utah, on October 4, 2025 at 4:30 PM (90 South Main, Parowan), preceded by a graveside service at 3:00 PM at the Parowan City Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to join together for a meal following the services at the Brown Residence (58 W Pioneer Ave, Parowan).
