Emken-Linton Funeral Home & CremationsWilliam E. Platt, age 81, was called home on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Emken-Linton Funeral Home, located at 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, Texas City, Texas 77591, on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. There will be no viewing or visitation.
William was born on January 16, 1944, in Madisonville, Texas, to parents Norval and Elouise Platt. He graduated from Glen Rose High School and moved to Texas City in 1962, where he married the love of his life, Cheryl, and together they raised three children.
William began his career at the Monsanto Plant, starting in the mailroom and working his way up to Supervisor. After many years of dedicated service, he retired at the age of 55. He spent his life devoted to providing for his family through hard work and steadfast commitment.
William enjoyed western movies, watching The Weather Channel, Judge Judy, and Dr. Pol. He especially loved repurposing "FREE" roadside treasures and tinkering in his garage, always working on small projects that brought him joy.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Norval and Elouise Platt.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Platt, and their three children; Lori Jones and husband Kevin Jones of Texas City, Kimberlee Flores and husband Florencio Flores of Texas City, William E. Platt, Jr. and wife Janet Platt of Dickinson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kelly Flores and wife Ashley of Texas City, Ian Jones and Jessica of Katy, Trevor Jones and Kelan of Texas City, Julian Flores and wife Brianna of San Antonio and Caleb Platt; great-grandchildren include, Adilynn and Wyatt Flores (Kelly and Ashley), Axel and Avalyn Jones (Ian and Shelbi), Charlee and Krew Jones (Trevor and Kelan), and Baby Julian Flores (Julian and Brianna).
William is also survived by his siblings, Jimmy Platt and wife Sharon, Caroline and husband George, and Marie and husband Fred, along with several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His memory will be cherished, and his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of William E. Platt.
