Carol A. (Pearson) Powers, 86 of Manchester-By-The-Sea, died on Monday, June 16th following a lengthy illness. Born in Beverly on June 9, 1939, to the late Elizabeth Pearson, she was the beloved wife of the late Robert E. Powers who passed on August 8, 2016.
Carol was an avid "TOWNIE". Born and raised on Pleasant St, graduated Story High School class of 1957, until she married Robert and ended up moving next door a couple of years later and lived there for 55 Years. Carol was known around town for the many clubs and activities she was a part of Manchester Women's Club, Manchester Garden Club, Manchester Boosters Club, Friendship Tree Lighting, Manchester Golden Age Club, Friends of the Council on Aging, just to name a few. While living in town she worked as a private house cleaner for many years then ended up working for the Manchester Housing Authority before her retirement in 2017. Carol and Robert would always host July 4th, which they did for 55 years. She would always have to make the family recipe meatballs and a spaghetti salad. One year she bought meatballs and everyone knew it. Then have a list who was bringing what and if anyone left hungry, welp it was their own fault.
Carol's dedication and love for her entire family was obvious through her attendance at various activities. From Athletics, to graduations, to family celebrations, she was always there. Her love and dedication outside of her family was notable too. Everyone she met, she became immediate friends with that lasted a lifetime. And of course, she loved her Dunkin' Donuts group chats in the morning, her spinning of the beach, and her scratch tickets.
Carol is survived by her sons, Michael Powers and his wife Abby, and Robert Powers, Jr and his wife, Sharon, her sister, Kathy Baldassare and her husband James, her grandchildren, Nathan Powers, Spencer Baker, Makayla Baker, Stephanie Powers, Eric Powers and his wife Jessica, Robert Kennedy, and Carly Powers, her great-grandchildren, Samantha Powers and Melody Eubanks, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by her brother Kevin Pearson.
Her funeral service will be at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Monday June 23rd at 12pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours prior to the service from 10am-12pm. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Manchester-By-The-Sea. Contributions may be made in Carol's memory to the Manchester Golden Age Club, Earl Morgan, President, 12C Summer St. Apt 18, Manchester, MA 01944.
