Carol Frieda Schaefer was born on May 10, 1935, in Queens, New York and went home to be with her Lord on August 15, 2025. Carol grew up in New York with her parents, Alexander and Carolyn Smith and her brother Alan Smith. Carol married Edward Lampert and they had three sons, James Lampert, Alan Lampert and Scott Schaefer. However, Carol and Edward Lampert eventually divorced. Carol then met the love of her life, Edward Schaefer, and they were married in 1970. When Scott was 8 years old, Ed adopted him and then Carol gave birth to her fourth son, Robert Schaefer. Carol and Ed made their way to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1987, where they lived for the remainder of their lives.

Carol was a fiery spirit, full of joy and so much love for others. Carol lived a full and wonderful life that revolved around her family. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, nany, aunt, cousin and friend. She lived for her family and would do anything for them. She was kind and loved people with all she had, unless they messed with one of her boys or her grandchildren – then she was a force to be reconned with. Carol worked outside of the home in numerous jobs but her favorite "job" was being a mom to her four boys and a grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You could not walk into Carol's home without feeling welcome and like you were one of the most important people in the world. She loved her Lord and Savior and although her presence here will be missed by all that loved her, there is no doubt that she is walking on those streets of gold with all of those that went before her.

Carol was proceeded in death by her grandparents: Henry and Freida Selover and Rudolph and Elizabeth Smith; parents: Alexander and Carolyn Smith; her husband: Edward Schaefer; her son: Alan Lampert; her sisters-in-law: Carmella Smith and Ronnie Levchuck; her brother-in-law, John Levchuck; and her granddaughter and grand son-in-law: Victoria and Evan Cox.

Carol is survived by her sons: James Lampert of New York, Scott Schaefer and his wife, Angela Schaefer of Florida; and Robert Schaefer of Florida; her brother: Alan Smith of New York; grandchildren: Thomas James Lampert and his wife, Mary Lampert of New Jersey, Kristopher Lampert and his wife, Kaylee Lampert of New York, Anthony Lauricella of New York, Jayme Lauricella-Carlo and her husband, John Carlo of New York, Andrew Lauricella of Florida, Christopher Lauricella and his wife, Stephanie Lauricella of Florida and Scott Schaefer, Jr. of Florida; great-grandchildren: Easton Lampert, Lana Lampert, Johnny Carlo, Sydney Carlo, James Lauricella, Andrew Lauricella, Jr., Alana Lauricella and Christopher Lauricella, Jr. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that she adored.
