Carol Mae Schmidt

Carol Mae Schmidt, age 84, of Cecil, passed away on Saturday March 7, 2026, in Appleton. Carol was born on May 15, 1941, in Shawano to the late Herman and Dora (Tuschy) Salzwedel. On August 8, 1964, she was united in marriage to Roger Schmidt in Bonduel. The couple spent a wonderful 49 years together before Roger’s passing in 2013. Carol was a devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran White Clay Lake Church and helped with the ladies aid. In her free time, she enjoyed watching soap operas especially the Young and the Restless and the bold and the beautiful.

Carol is survived by her children, Scott Schmidt and Sarah (John) Klatt; grandchildren, Christopher (Sarah) Klatt and Aaron (Macy) Klatt; granddaughters, Hayleigh and Ryleigh; and brother, Roger Salzwedel. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Schmidt; and parents, Herman and Dora Salzwedel.

A funeral service for Carol will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday March 14, 2026, at Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel with Pastor Craig Nehring officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial will be held at Immanuel Lutheran White Clay Lake Cemetery in Cecil in the spring.
