Carol A. (Stroud) Shelton, 82, of Marengo, Indiana passed from this life on May 23, 2025 at Todd-Dickey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Leavenworth, Indiana. Carol was born on December 10, 1942 in Orange County, Indiana to the late Harold and Geraldine (Underhill) Stroud.
Carol was a former Matron for the Crawford County Sheriff's Department, substitute teacher for the Crawford County High School, and had other clerical jobs throughout her career.
She was a former member of the Red Hatters and was featured in the Louisville Courier-Journal for her award winning sorghum cookies, something that she was very proud of. She enjoyed sewing, decorating cakes, cooking, reading, thrift shopping, watching game shows, and keeping up with local events and stories on Facebook.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delmar Shelton, a daughter, Lisa D. Schotter; and siblings, Elizabeth Stroud Prior, Ralph Stroud, and Merlin Stroud.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelli R. Slaughterback (Dale); grandchildren, Lindsey Manship (Tyler), Allison Pirtle (Justin), and Laci Lynton (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Taylor Manship (Brittany), Tristan Manship, Tanner Manship (Autumn), Landon Smith, Lisa Sue Manship, and Etta Jane Manship; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Ernie Stroud (Marti) and Jerry Stroud (Joanne).
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at the Marengo Independent United Methodist Church, 1449 N. Hardy Road, Marengo, Indiana 47140. Interment will be in the Marengo Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the church.
Bro. Tim Jellison and Bro. Mark Manship will officiate the service.
Memorial contributions may be given to Todd-Dickey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 712 2nd Street, Leavenworth, Indiana 47137.
