Carol F. Simpson

It is with great sadness that the family of Carol F. (Mroz) Simpson, Lewisberry, PA, announce her passing on March 12, 2023. Carol was born February 7, 1946 in Shamokin, PA. She was the daughter of the late Albin and Florence (Krieger) Mroz and was also preceded in death by sisters, Marian Theresa Klebon and Barbara Ann Wilde Witchie.
Carol graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Shamokin, in 1963. She was recruited to work as a secretary at the Pentagon, USAF, where she worked from 1963 through 1968. Carol's life took her to Manassas, VA, where she worked for the HUB Furniture Company for many years. She then moved on to Mechanicsburg, PA, where she met and married her soulmate, Floyd Douglas Simpson to whom she has been married for 41 years. She was employed as a secretary for the Federal Highway Administration, the former New Cumberland Army Depot, and later, her most rewarding employment, as a legal secretary at the U.S. Attorney's Office, Harrisburg, from which she retired in 1997.
In addition to her husband, surviving Carol are two stepsons, Douglas Simpson (Heidi) of Etters and John Simpson of Lewisberry; grandson, Douglas Simpson of York; three great-grandchildren; nieces, Annette (Klebon) Brown of Watsontown, and Linda (Klebon) Linn and Christine (Wilde) Charlton, both of Maryland; a nephew, Steve Wilde of PA, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Throughout her life, Carol had a great sense of humor and always made people laugh. She was the family prankster! She also had a big heart and had a great love of animals! Thanks to Carol, many cats lived long and happy lives! Because of her love of animals, Carol requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your local, no-kill animal shelter.
A memorial for Carol will be private for family only.
Carol wished to leave a final message for all of her friends and family, based on a traditional Irish Blessing:
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and the rain fall soft upon your fields,
and until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
