Carol Ann Simpson, age 61, passed away on July 8, 2025, at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood Illinois just outside of Chicago. Born in Wichita Kansas September 16, 1963, Carol spent the majority of her life in nearby Andover where she selflessly devoted herself to the care of her parents, Ambrose and Rosemary (nee Schafer) Simpson, attending to their every need and allowing them to remain in their home until their deaths. She also helped them survive and rebuild after the devastating tornado that leveled their home in 1991. Carol joined her brother Kevin in Chicago in 2017 while also spending significant time near Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana. She truly enjoyed his companionship, cooking, and close circle of friends and their children and pets. Carol's deep Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. With statues of saints surrounding her, rosaries at her side, and novenas always in progress, Carol was a faithful disciple of Christ throughout her life. She had a truly joyful spirit, a kind heart, and a gift for making friends wherever she went. Able to easily strike up a conversation with anyone, Carol had an amazing ability to turn complete strangers into lifelong friends within a single conversation. She was an incredible and loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Carol LOVED many things including quesadillas, VCR recordings of The Golden Girls and Everyone Loves Raymond, and of course Dr. Pepper! Carol was perhaps most happy when caring for and loving her many friends' dogs! She loved supporting Notre Dame sports and treasured the friends she made attending countless games especially while attending Notre Dame's football game in Ireland in 2023. Carol also avidly cheered for the Kansas University basketball program, commonly seen sporting a Jayhawks sweatshirt, as well as Gonzaga basketball and the Chicago Cubs. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Ambrose and Rosemary Simpson; her brother Kenny Simpson; and brother-in-law David Ely. She is survived by her brother Joe Simpson of San Antonio, Texas; sister Pat Simpson of Topeka, Kansas; and brother Kevin Simpson of
Chicago, Illinois. She is also lovingly remembered by her niece Rachel Blackstone (husband Bill, children Hawkins, Windsor, and Westlyn) of Austin, Texas; niece Katie Richards (husband Ryan, children Henry and Violet) of Denison, Texas; and nephew Nicholas Simpson of San Antonio, Texas. Carol's life was one of gentleness, joy, contentment and genuine kindness. She will be deeply missed and forever loved and remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
