Grace Macaluso Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Michalik Funeral Home on Feb. 7, 2026.
Grace M. Macaluso (nee Guiffre), age 88, of Chicago, passed away surrounded by the love she so generously gave throughout her life. Grace was a beautiful woman in spirit and faith, whose kindness, loyalty, and quiet strength touched all who knew her.

She was the devoted and loving wife of her late husband, Dr. Leonard A. Macaluso, whose life and work she supported with unwavering dedication. Grace was the adored mother of Mary Therese, and beloved mother-in-law of Anthony Rosinia. She was the cherished grandmother of Isabella, Gabriella, and Anthony Rosinia III, who were the joy of her life and the light of her later years.

Grace was the most loving daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Fragola) Guiffre, and a treasured sister to her late siblings: Margaret and Louis Contino, Florence and Rocky Sette, Marie and Joseph Munjak, Samuel Guiffre, and Ann and Hubert Van Aerden. She held family close to her heart and honored those who came before her with deep love and respect.

She was a best friend and big sister to Nick and Henrietta Guiffre, a cherished aunt to many loving nieces and nephews, and a caring stepmother to Joyce Macaluso Heitman. Grace was also a lifelong friend to Naomi Mac Kimm, and a loving and loyal friend of the Carbonaro Family.

Grace will be remembered for her elegance, her devotion to family, her generosity of heart, and the enduring love she shared so freely. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the family she held together with love.

Family and friends will meet Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Holy Name Cathedral, 735 North State Street, Chicago, Illinois 60654 for a 9:30 a.m. Visitation followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass. Free parking for Holy Name Cathedral is available at 14 West Superior Street (between Dearborn Street and State Street). Please take a ticket for validation and use any nonreserved parking space on Lower Level One (LL1) or Lower Level Two (LL2). Entombment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.

My dad, Peter Farella (the barber) thought fun family trivia was the fact that his cousin Gracie married the doctor that delivered her. He would tell the story at parties or pauses in conversation and to one up interesting family facts. I enjoyed meeting Gracie's family at family reunions a couple of times. Condolences for a life well lived and a sweet lady with a great story. God Bless her and welcome her home! Gina Farella Howley
