Carol Jean Skye, born on February 21, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on December 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her life took her from the Midwest to Maryland, where she made her homes in Towson and later Emmitsburg.

Carol moved through the world with curiosity, generosity, and a spirit that was uniquely her own. She loved to schlabotz, a playful family word she used for wandering through shops and savoring the simple pleasure of an unhurried outing. She cherished thoughtful conversations and had a rare gift for making others feel seen and understood.

Faith, family, friendship, and felines were among Carol's greatest joys. Her Catholic faith was the steady center of her life. She held firmly to prayer throughout her illness and drew comfort from a devotion to God that never faltered. Her quiet strength inspired those around her.

She treasured time with the people she loved, from sharing stories around a gathered table to the small, ordinary moments that made her feel connected to those closest to her. Her love for cats was lifelong. Each one held a special place in her heart, and she cared for them with the same tenderness and devotion she offered to the people who were dear to her.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Vesna Skye, her sisters, Antoinette and Maria, and her beloved nephew, Alexander. She leaves behind countless hearts touched by her kindness and presence. Her legacy is one of generosity, intellectual curiosity, steadfastness, and the steady grace with which she met every season of her life. Those who knew her will carry forward her example of faith, acceptance, and unconditional love.
