Carol Louise Smith, 86, passed away April 26, 2013. Carol was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and was preceded in death by her parents, Alban and Olive Smith; and brothers, Robert Smith and Loran Smith. Carol will be deeply missed by her husband, Harry V. Smith; and daughters, Sandra (Dennis) Gotsch of Harvard, Ill., Barbara (Philippe) Esteve of Charleston, S.C., Kathleen (Charles) Lang of Mogadore, and Pamela (Shawn) Werner of Mogadore. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Jason Lang, Andrew Gotsch, Nicole (Esteve) Todd, Stacey (Lang) Suihkonen, Samantha (Gotsch) Vance, Daniel Lang, Nicole (Marquis) Bienvenu; and six great-grandchildren.
Carol and Harry lived and raised their family in Cheektowaga, N.Y., resided for several years in Darien, N.Y., then moved to Venice, Fla. after they both retired from Davey Tree Company. They moved to Ohio in 2003 and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last June at a vow renewal ceremony held by Mulberry Gardens Assisted Living, where they have resided since 2010. Carol was a member of Advent Lutheran Church in Uniontown. The family would like to thank the staff at Mulberry Gardens, VITAS Hospice, and Carol’s church family for their care and compassion while assisting her on this final journey home.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 11th, at 11 a.m. at Advent Lutheran Church, 1516 Edison Street NW, Uniontown, OH 44685, with Pastor Robert Cheyney Jr. officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10:30 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Advent Lutheran Church; or VITAS Hospice, 600 East Granger Road, #100, Cleveland, OH 44131.
