Joseph Thomas Testa

May 20, 1940 – February 24, 2026

Joseph Thomas Testa, born May 20, 1940, in North Hill, Akron, Ohio, finally got his tee time in heaven on February 24, 2026, at the age of 85. He passed away peacefully at home, exactly where he wanted to be. He was surrounded by those he knew loved him dearly and who always made him smile: his devoted wife of over 50 years, Elin; his stepdaughter, Annebritt; his granddaughter, Brittany; and his great-granddaughters, Lil and Bella.

Joe spent many years working as a proud Teamster with P.I.E., providing for his family with pride and hard work. Joe’s life was shaped by his Catholic faith and his Italian roots. You could find him with the same friends he went to St. Anthony’s with—Santo, Fiocca, Jerry, and Stevie—who loved going to the track or playing a round of golf. He loved the simple things in life, and if you stopped by, there was a good chance he’d be in his armchair, enjoying life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amelia and Ray Testa, and his sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and Les Sharp.

Joe is survived by his wife, Elin; his children, Patty Testa, Joseph Testa, Annebritt Makebakken, Tom (Therese) Makebakken, and Marc (Betsy) Makebakken; his brothers, Raymond (Pam) and John (Sandy): grandchildren, Brittany, Nicholas, Michael, Kenton, Nils, Hannah, and Bobby.  He was also very close with great-grandchildren Lil, Bella, and Ralphie who made each other laugh all the time.

A private Mass and funeral service will be held to honor Joe’s life and legacy.  Joe's celebration of life will take place at a later date.
