**Obituary for Carol L. Stieben** It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Carol L. Stieben, aged 83, who departed this life on October 4, 2025, in Portland, Oregon. Born on April 11, 1942, in Eugene, Oregon, Carol was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She is now reunited with her husband, Lawrence (Larry) Stieben, who predeceased her in 1991. Carol was the cherished daughter of Walter Raymond (Ray) Conrad and Viola E. Conrad (Myers). She was preceded in death by three of her five siblings: James Lamb, Gordon Lamb, and Gerald Lamb, all from Eugene and Springfield, Oregon. She is survived by her surviving sisters, Donna Van Zandt of Redmond, Oregon, and Dianne Anderson of Chiloquin, Oregon, as well as her sister-in-law, Sue Lamb of Springfield. Carol's legacy continues through her numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many cousins, with special mention of Russ, Connie, Lance, Brenda, Eldon, Greg, Jaymi, Kevin, Jason, Sarah, Cameron, Kristy, and their children, who loved her dearly.

She built close relationships, considering some her "second family," including her dear friend Georgia Studdlefield and lifelong friends Marvin Herr and JoRay Herr and their children, Nicole, Tracy, and Bradley. Not to exclude Joanne Westover and Jon Munchus.

A graduate of Beaverton High School in 1960, Carol continued her education through various college courses, which helped her thrive in her career as an office manager and clerical professional within several entrepreneurial ventures alongside her husband. Carol and Larry traveled extensively across the United States, seeking adventure and creating cherished memories, often in the company of lifelong friends Marvin and JoRay Herr and their family. Carol will be remembered with great affection for her strong faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and for her remarkable affinity for animals, especially cats. Known fondly as "The Cat Lady," Carol dedicated her life to rescuing and nurturing feline companions. The memorial service will be held at Cascade Meadows, located at 10005 SE Bell Ave, Milwaukie, Oregon, on October 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., officiating by Pastor Scott Mews. Following the service, a potluck gathering will allow family and friends to share in the love and memories of Carol. A private burial will take place on October 28th at Willamette National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Larry. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or a cat rescue of your choice, honoring Carol's lifelong commitment to her treasured pets. Carol L. Stieben will be missed tremendously, but her spirit and legacy will live on through the many lives she touched with her kindness and love.
