Carol Marie (Thomas) Darrow, 87, Appleton, WI, loving wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away October 17, 2025. She was born on January 4, 1938, in Green Bay, WI, daughter to the late Merrill and Marie Thomas who owned Green Bay's Thomas Drug Store for 50 years. Carol graduated high school from St. Joseph Academy in Green Bay and attended St. Norbert College. Carol married her husband and best friend, Neal E. Darrow, on August 20, 1960, and they recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. They lived in various places including Milwaukee, WI, Neenah, WI, Clermont, FL and Minocqua, WI.
Carol was guided by her Catholic faith all her life and knew Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She volunteered for many charities, sang at countless Masses, weddings and funerals at church (both solo and with the guitar group), and knitted hundreds of scarves for the homeless. She was heavily involved in her family’s activities, and she cheered on Notre Dame and the Green Bay Packers. She enjoyed fishing “secret” lakes in northern Wisconsin with Neal and going out to eat. She had her own unique sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh.
Her three grandchildren were her pride and joy!
Carol is survived by her husband Neal E. Darrow; son Tom (Anne) Darrow; daughter Debbie (Dave) Froeming; son Mike (Kathy) Darrow; daughter Jenny Pingel; grandson Nathan Froeming; granddaughter Natalie Froeming; granddaughter Coba Darrow; brother Tom (Barb) Thomas; and other family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Touchmark in Appleton for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Carol’s memory to one of her favorite charities, St. Vincent de Paul, Neenah, WI, at www.svdpneenah.org.
The family will celebrate her life with a private Mass and entombment in Green Bay.
Condolences can be mailed to: Neal Darrow, c/o 2601 Touchmark Dr, Appleton, WI 54914.
