Carol Belita Thomas ObituaryCarol Belita Thomas, lived 78 years before answering the call for enteral life on December 30, 2024 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin and friend to many.
Born December 4, 1946 in Beulah, Mississippi to Charles Burden and Dora Lee Thomas who preceded her in death. Mom excepted Christ at an early age while living in Beulah. Although spending her early years in Beulah, she moved to Colorado Springs as a teenager along with her siblings and graduated from Palmer High School. She was also a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church during this time. Mom had many occupations over the years to include a sales associate at Kmart and Walmart, a CNA and a home health care aid. However, her proudest self-achievement was receiving her credentials as a Pharmacy Technician.
As a single mother, she did not travel as much as she wanted but she did live in Denver, Memphis and Hagerstown, MD before moving back to the Springs in 2018. Mom enjoyed taking rides to the mountains, walking around the lake or just sitting at the park. She was an avid collector of cookbooks and recipes, as well as watching old westerns, CSI and her soaps on the TV. She also loved to read and work word puzzles. Mom had a big heart when it came to children, she said that they are innocent and should not have to suffer, so she often donated to the Children's Hospital and Shriners Hospital.
Others who have proceeded her are David Higgs (son); brothers and sisters Charles Burden, Mary Lou Wesley, Alfred Burden, Charles Thomas, Marie Thomas, Melvin Thomas and many uncles and aunts.
Carol is survived by her daughter Exkelia Thomas (Colorado Springs, CO); her sisters Victory Thomas and Debborha Guillory (Colorado Springs, CO) and Janice (Reggie) Harris (El Paso, TX); her brother McDennis Thomas (Colorado Springs, CO), her grandchildren Travis (Nicole) Thomas, Sergio Williams (Aurora, CO), K'La Higgs (Colorado Springs, CO); her great-grandchildren Serenity and Greyson (Colorado Springs, CO) and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
A private gathering of family will be held on 18 Jan 2025 at her home.
