Carol was born and raised in McKees Rocks and was a 1965 graduate of McKees Rocks High School, where she was earned the distinguished honor of serving as class valedictorian. Following high school, Carol entered nursing school to pursue a career in caring for others. A tragic accident in her early years prohibited her from completing schooling. However, Carol's perseverance allowed her to obtain a position working at Mercy Hospital. While at Mercy Hospital, Carol served as a medical secretary to the Chief of Internal Medicine, a position she held with integrity until she retired to raise her children. Even after leaving healthcare, Carol continued to care for others: her children, her grandchildren, her parents, her "fur babies", and the children of her friends, many of which affectionately knew her as "Grandma Carol." Something that brought Carol joy in life was music. In her youth, she served as a cantor and organist for the former St. Cyril and Methodius Church in McKees Rocks. She enjoyed reading, completing puzzles, and playing cards. Most of all, Carol treasured the time she spent seeing her family grow over the years. Her greatest gift in life was being able to attend graduations and witness the accomplishments of her grandchildren. While we are all in sorrow of the passing of Carol, we will forever be inspired by her caring nature and the warm heart that she opened to anyone she came across.
