Carol O'Gwynn Wilkinson went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
Carol graduated from high school in 1959. She attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC for two years where she studied elementary education. She returned to college at the University of South Alabama in Mobile where she graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a double major in education and music with proficiencies in piano and organ.
In the years between college, she worked as a Clerk Typist for Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile. After getting her degree, she taught 2nd grade at Greystone Christian School then transitioned to be the full-time music teacher. Her career at Greystone lasted for 17 years. Over the summer months during those years, she worked at the US Army Corp of Engineers processing summer student aid appointments. After her children graduated from high school, she went to work full time at the Corp of Engineers where she took an early retirement in 1994. After that she worked part time for Formwalt and Williams, Clinical Psychology as their office manager until she fully retired in 2003.
Carol was a member of Greystone Bible Church where she played the piano and organ for many years. She was also heavily involved with the Ladies' Missionary Prayer Fellowship, the children's Good News Club, development and posting of the weekly church bulletin, and maintaining the church Facebook page. She remained active with administrative services for Greystone until her health declined in November 2024.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Wallace O'Gwynn and Ruth Lucille Boggs, her son, John Brooks Wilkinson, and her husband, Robert Brooks Wilkinson, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Mara Kay Wilkinson Taylor (Marvin), grandson, Christopher Allen Marshall, and nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Greystone Bible Church, 5350 Girby Rd., Mobile, AL 36693.
