Carol Ann Wilson, 78, of West Haven, entered into rest on January 8, 2025. Born in Yonkers, NY on December 10, 1946, a daughter of the late George and Mary Vaughn Montfort. She is survived by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Burke III; sons Raymond (Elizabeth) Wilson and Thomas Wilson; stepsons Charles (Kelly) Burke IV, Jason (Davia) Burke, and Shaun (Julia) Burke; grandchildren Sofia and Audrey Wilson, Savannah Brewer, Carlene and Charlie Burke V, Quinn and Landon Burke, and McKayla, McKensie and Shaun Burke; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Douglass Montfort and sister, Suzanne Baronowski.
Carol was a 1964 graduate of Branford High School who later enjoyed a bookkeeping and office management career in the fields of education and healthcare. A loving, loyal and dedicated wife, Carol stayed in Branford, close to nieces with whom she shared a special bond, as well as other extended family. Here she raised her two sons, supported them through their education, and stayed involved in their many sports and other activities.
Carol was happy to open her home to many neighborhood kids as a frequent place to gather or to eat lunch. She especially liked weekend trips and family vacations to Cape Cod. Gatherings at Amston Lake with her siblings and extended family were also an annual highlight for her.
After retiring, Carol enjoyed taking her granddaughters for breakfast at Georgie's Diner, picking them up from school and keeping her cabinets stocked with the best snacks. She was a kind, considerate, caring person with an enthusiastic sense of humor. Carol treasured her friendships and appreciated daily phone calls with loved ones. She was especially known for ensuring that greeting cards were delivered on people's exact birthdays.
Carol was strong and active well into her adult life and loved running races and playing games with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, spending time with family pets, and collecting sand from beaches that she and her loved ones visited.
Carol and her family are forever grateful for the wonderful care and compassion received from the nurses and her personal care team at Yale New Haven Hospital in the Neuroscience ICU, 6-3.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16th from 4 until 7 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. No other services will be held.
