Carole Ann (Hicks) Aukstikalnis – January 10, 1943 to December 19th, 2024 (81 yrs old)
Carole was called home to join her beloved husband Tom in Heaven on December 19th. Carole is survived by her three children, her son Thomas Aukstikalnis Jr. and his wife Suzanne, and her son James Aukstikalnis and his wife Mary, and her daughter Barbara Aukstikalnis Pacific and her husband Stephen. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Lauren Casey (Eddie), Alyssa Cote (Brendan), Ariana, Megan, Tommy 3rd, and Cayman, along with one of her greatest joys, her great granddaughter Callie. She is predeceased by her husband "Tom" Thomas Aukstikalnis Sr. who died in 2021, her parents Alice and James Hicks, and her four brothers, Billy, Arthur, Bobby, and Jack. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Butler, her cousin Anne in Newfoundland and many more cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Carole loved the sunshine, horses and especially babies. Anyone who knew Carole also knew her as "Nana Carole". In Heaven she is likely riding her horse Nugget on a sunny beach with her husband Tom also known as "Pops" patiently waiting with a gentle smile. Carole graduated from North Reading high school and met Tom in the workplace. Together they settled and resided in Maynard for almost 60 years as constant companions. They spent many vacations together enjoying the lakes and beaches of New England, especially in York, Maine. Even in the middle of the winter you could find them at their favorite restaurant, Woodman's in Ipswich, Massachusetts. Together again, may they rest in peace.
A visitation will be held at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Avenue (Rt 111), Acton on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 5-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held in St.Bridget's Church, 1 Percival Street, Maynard on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 10 AM. Interment to follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Maynard.
