Carole M. (Susterich) Blecksmith, age 81 formerly of Grand Haven, passed away on Friday, June 09, 2023 in SeaTac, WA. She was born on February 18, 1942 in Grand Haven, MI to the late Joseph and Marian (Witherell) Susterich.
Carole attended Grand Haven High School (Class of 1960) and completed her LPN at L.A. County General Hospital in 1964. She worked many years as a nurse at Kenmore Family Medical -Evergreen Hospital in Washington and her patients remember her fondly. She also cared for patients at L.A. County General Hospital, Cook County General Hospital, and San Gabriel Hospital in California. Carole enjoyed spending time with her dogs, crafting, reading, and gardening.
Carole is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her surviving children, Jody Blecksmith and Mike (Kim) Blecksmith; her friend and "sister" Toni Clay; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marian Susterich of Grand Haven; son, Eric Blecksmith; and her siblings, Fanny Maggiore, Fran Buikema, Joan Japenga, and George (Roy) Susterich; as well as her former husband, Stephen Blecksmith.
A graveside interment will be held for the family on August 21 at the Grand Haven Historical Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grand Haven School Foundation or the Harbor Humane Society.
