Carole Egan Obituary

Egan, Carole J.
WATERVLIET - Carole J. Egan, 81, entered into eternal life on October 26, 2023, at her residence.
Born and raised in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Stasia (Zalucky) Bucci. A graduate of Cardinal McCloskey High School and the College of St. Rose, she had taught grades Kindergarten through sixth in Troy and South Colonie, from which she retired.
An active parishioner of over 57 years at St. Pius X Church, Carole served as a lector and eucharistic minister and had worked in the sacramental preparation programs for baptism, confirmation, and marriage. In retirement, she was a tutor for Literacy Volunteers, working with students from Guyana, Bangladesh, and China. She also served on the library committee at Shaker Pointe, where she had resided for 12 years.
Carole was an avid reader who enjoyed crossword puzzles, genealogy research, crafts, and sewing. She liked visiting museums and fabric stores. Carole loved traveling domestically and abroad and was grateful for the chance to visit many European countries, especially Italy and Poland.
Carole was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Jack Egan. She leaves behind her cherished children: her daughter, Kathy and son-in-law, Larry Witkowski, and her son, Brian Egan; and her treasured grandchildren, Brendan Carroll, Ashlynn Carroll, and Evan Witkowski. She is also survived by several cousins; her brothers-in-law, Jerry Fournier (Peggy), Jim Fournier (Dolores), and Bob Fournier (Cathy); her sister-in-law, Mary (Brian) Lord, and numerous friends.
The family wishes to thank the exemplary staff at The Community Hospice of Albany, who went above and beyond to provide such caring support.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, on Wednesday, November 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 2, at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville. Burial will follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.

Kathy and Brian, sending my sincere condolences on the loss of one my best friends. She was a remarkable individual and I´m so glad we met during our college days at St. Rose, and continued our friendship for the last 59 years.

My late wife, Mary Lee and I met Carole and Jack when we moved to Shaker Pointe. Two of the most beautiful , kind and caring people to walk the face of the earth. Carole is soaring with the angels in heaven, along with Jack. I share with you the agony of your grief and my strength of caring , with my prayers.
Respectfully, Jerry Brown

Kathy, Brian and family...I was sorry to read of Carole's passing...she was such a sweet person...Carole and I lived across the street from each other and went to St. Casimir's grade school together...we didn't see much of each other over the years, but she still told everyone at King Thiel that we had been friends for over 75 years...and we were! I'll be in Florida as of Tuesday, but you'll be in my thoughts and prayers...Carole's happy to be with Jack again, may she rest in peace.

Brian I am so sorry for the loss of your mom. I enjoyed seeing her at your birthday a few years ago and Delmonico's earlier this year and I'm glad she was able to make the trip to see family down south. She was a kind and lovely lady who lived a full and active life.

Jim and I were blessed to have known Jack and Carole so well. I was certainly blessed to be able to share with her what a wonderful teacher, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend she was just hours before she joined Jack in heaven. She will not be forgotten but she will be missed by all who knew her.
