Carole (Bach) Stoneking, age 85, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2023, with her children by her side in North Kansas City, MO. Carole was born in Columbus, Ohio to Esther and Carlton Bach. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, David (Wendy) Stoneking.
Carole was raised in Worthington, Ohio and graduated in the Class of ’57 from Worthington High School. She attended The Ohio State University and aspired to take to the skies as a flight attendant after attending Grace Downs Airline School in New York City. Following graduation, she flew with Capital Airlines. Her career took her to Ypsilanti, Michigan where she married and started a family.
Continuing to move with the airline industry, Trans World Airlines (TWA) brought the family to Kansas City, MO. Carole was very active in her new community, holding seats on association boards, den mother of the Cub Scout troop, and editor of the neighborhood monthly newsletter.
Carole continued to work outside the home. Her work experience included Eagle Animal Hospital, Beatty Optometry, Salon Manager of Command Performance, and finally retiring from DST Systems as an Executive Assistant.
Carole was an active member of King of Kings Lutheran Church. She was a choir member, led the Altar Guild, and served as Wedding Coordinator. Carole cherished time spent with her grandchildren through the years. She enjoyed monthly Bunko with “the girls” and found peace each morning with a cup of coffee watching her backyard birds.
Carole is survived by her son, James Stoneking of Kansas City, MO and daughter, Kristine (Michael) Borylo, of Platte City, MO, and beloved grandchildren Ashley (Stoneking) Overton, Ryan Borylo, Paige Borylo, and Kyler Stoneking. Surviving family members include sisters, Joanne (Bach) Moriarty and Jayne (Bach) Taylor of Bluffton, SC, and brother, Bill (Beryl) Bach of Blacklick, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to King of Kings Lutheran Church c/o Altar Guild, 1701 NE 96th Street, Kansas City, MO 64155.
