Carolee Faye Hokanson, age 85, of Ashby, MN, passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2025.
Carolee was born April 17, 1940, to Jeanette (Lundberg) and Ray Torgerson and grew up on a farm near Eagle Lake in Ottertail County. She attended country school and graduated from Battle Lake High School.
On June 6, 1959, she married her beloved husband, Hardy Hokanson. They moved to the Twin Cities.
January 1970, they adopted their son, Frederick and 4 years later, their daughter Bente’.
August 1977, they moved to rural Ashby, where they built their forever home. She worked various jobs but met so many people when she sold Home Interiors and at the jewelry department of Walmart in Alexandria.
She was an active lifetime member at Grue Lutheran Church, serving on the board, Sunday school teacher, and ladies’ aid. She was also a 4-H leader. She helped to win many league bowling championships.
Carolee spent hours looking through recipe books, cooking magazines, or watching cooking shows and was an amazing cook. She loved traveling with her friends or spending time at her sister’s lake home near Aitkin. She also spent time with her great grandchildren randomly picking them up to go for treats, coloring, or playing games, including planting a garden on their backs.
She is preceded in death by her true love Hardy, parents Ray & Jeanette, sister and brother-in-law Janice & Harv Paulson.
She is survived by her son Fred (Dan Barth) Hokanson, daughter Bente’ (Paul) Wagenman, grandchildren Courtney Neterval & Taylor (Samantha) Birr, great grandchildren Matthew, Quinnton, and Elke, sister and brother-in-law Randi & Dennis Hockert.
