Harlan A. Hokanson

Harlan passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Belle Creek Township on February 21, 1935, to Thore and Minnie (Karlsted) Hokanson, in the oldest house in Goodhue County, which still stands today.

He spent his childhood years on a farm, in rural Cherry Grove Township. He later moved to Goodhue for his senior year where he graduated from Wanamingo High School.

Harlan married Bonita Schaefer on June 23rd, 1957, in Pine Island. They raised their six children and one grandchild on their farm in rural Goodhue. Harlan was a farmer by heart and loved his John Deere Tractor . He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Ranger rides and evening drives with great-granddaughters Zoe and Mya, looking for deer. Highlights were making precious memories with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Harlan is survived by his wife Bonita, children David of Lake City, Donna (Jay) Lindahl of Cannon Falls, Dennis of Goodhue, Troy (Alyssa) of Goodhue, and Christopher (Susan) of Goodhue; great-granddaughter Emily of Cannon Falls, 20 grandkids, 31 great-grandkids, brother Gary (Marlene) Hokanson, sisters Marlene (Larry) Beckman and Kathy Hauschildt, and sister-in-law Helen Hokanson.

Harlan is preceded in death by his parents Thore and Minnie Hokanson, daughter Sharon Strack, son-in-law Tim Strack, grandson Nathan Hokanson, brother Melroy, Paul, and Roger Hokanson, brother-in-law Jerry Hauschildt, and sisters-in-law Leah and Gloria Hokanson.

Funeral services will be on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 11:00 am, at the True North Church, 410 Dakota St, W, Cannon Falls, MN 55009. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls, MN 55009. There will also be a visitation one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Friday. Interment will follow the service at the Cannon Falls Cemetery on Friday
