Marley Funeral Home, LLC - AtticaCaroline Mary Basher, 76 of Attica, passed away on Friday (February 27, 2026) at Unity Hospital, Rochester, surrounded by the love of her family.
Caroline was born February 25, 1950, in Buffalo, a daughter of the late John and Mildred (Moulin) Thering.
She retired from a career as a driver for Custom Topsoil, in Buffalo. After retirement Caroline enjoyed being in the outdoors through a retirement job as a landscaper for the Darien State Park.
Caroline loved rodeo season, spending her days watching her family ride and tending bar with her friends, enjoying a fun game of Euchre, Sitting on the boat soaking up the sun, family parties where we all got together, she was always right in the middle of the action. Caroline never met a stranger - she was outgoing, full of life, and truly loved visiting with people. A proud and devoted horse show mom, she was her family's biggest cheerleader. When she wasn't at the rodeo grounds, you could find her camping in her daughter Michelle's Camper or horse trailer, soaking in the simple joys of the outdoors. But above all else, what mattered most to her was time spent with her kids, grandkids, grand dogs, and extended family. Those moments together were her greatest treasure.
Surviving are her children, Michelle Waldo, Russell (Lynette) Basher, Cheryl (Andrew) Schlau, Victoria Basher; grandchildren, Kaleigh Waldo, Evan Schlau, Vanessa Schlau, and Calven Schlau; siblings, Jack (Jerry) Thering, Joe (lori) Thering, and Mary (Chris) Martin; nieces and nephews, Amanda Johnson, Megan Marle, Jacob Thering, Cece Martin, Eric Martin, Colin Martin, Renee Sanders, Rachel (Mario) Luevano, Angela (Bob) Thering, John Neil (Nichole) Thering, and Lorraine Thering.
Caroline is reunited in death with her parents and her siblings, Margaret Sanders and Ronald Thering.
Family and friends may call on March 19th, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Marley Funeral Home, 135 Main Street in Attica. Caroline's funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours at the funeral home.
