Carolyn Foster, 86, a devoted follower of her Lord Jesus Christ, passed away on October 1, 2025, on Hilton Head Island. Born on June 10, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, Carolyn's life was a testament to her faith, which guided her every step.

She graduated from James Madison High School before embarking on a lifelong journey of learning. While she attended college later in life, her education was never limited to a classroom. She was a dedicated student of life, taking Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) classes and traveling the world with Road Scholar. Her love of travel was a joy she shared with her husband, William, and together they embarked on over 30 cruises throughout Europe, South America and the Caribbean. Her travels took her to every continent except Antarctica, and her stories enriched the lives of her friends and family.

A passionate advocate for mental health, Carolyn proudly served as President of NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) Hilton Head Chapter, a cause to which she was deeply committed. Her tireless efforts helped to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and provide vital support for countless families.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, William J. Foster, Sr., and her cherished son, Gary Foster.

She is survived by her loving son, William Foster and his wife, Kathy, and her devoted daughter, Cindy, and her husband, Jimmy. She also leaves behind her brother, Bruce, and his wife, Carol. She was a cherished grandmother to her seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Sarah), Morgan (David), Emma (Tyler), Christian, Jacqueline, John (MaryAnn), and Melissa, and her two great-grandchildren, Lane and Molly. She was also an aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Her kindness and compassion were felt by everyone she met. A true servant of God, she found joy in prayer and strength in scripture. Though we grieve her passing, we find solace in the promise of eternal life and the assurance that we will one day be reunited in God's eternal kingdom.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, October 7, at 4:00 p.m. at The Seabrook Retirement Community on Hilton Head.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
