Caroline Kizewski Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Caroline M. Kizewski, of Rosholt, WI, passed away July 24, 2025, at Maple Ridge Assisted Living in Plover, at the age of 96.
Caroline was born in Manitowoc, WI, on June 6, 1929, to Stanley and Clara (Bronk) Oksiuta who resided there during the time of the Great Depression. Shortly thereafter, they moved to a farm in Portage County where Caroline attended the local schools and worked on the farm.
At the age of 18, Caroline got a job working as a housekeeper in local rectories and as a sacristan in the church. After 15 years of service, she was called home to help her sister take care of her children and operate their tavern business in Rosholt. While there she met the love of her life, Basil Kizewski and they were married on October 14, 1961. Together they operated Basil's Inn for a number of years in Rosholt. When Caroline's mother and Basil's mother reached an age where they needed a caretaker, Caroline gladly took on that role as well. After Basil's passing in 2009, Caroline went on to work as a caretaker and sacristan for St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt. She devoted many years to the church and became the keeper of the keys, opening the church up in the morning and locking it in early evening.
Caroline was very generous with her time and talents, often doing alteration work and sewing for many local residents. She had a true passion for helping those in need, often putting their needs before her own. When taking care of herself, she loved to garden and made sure to enjoy an Old Fashioned before dinner each evening.
Caroline is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, countless friends in the religious field and her church family. God gave her a generous heart towards everyone and she is now in her Eternal Reward with family and friends welcoming her home.
Caroline was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Basil; her parents, Stanley and Clara; her sisters, Sally Lorbiecki and Violet Gilmeister, and her brothers, Leonard Oksiuta and Elmer Oksiuta.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Maple Ridge and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care of Caroline.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt, WI. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories at the church from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM with a General Rosary at 10:30 AM. Following the service, Caroline will be laid to rest by her husband in the church cemetery. A luncheon will be served in the church hall following services.
Shuda Funeral Chapel is honored to be assisting the family.
