Jean Kizewski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ritchay Funeral Home - Wisconsin Rapids on Nov. 20, 2024.
Jean Rose Kizewski of Wisconsin Rapids died Friday November 15th 2024. She was 91 years old. She passed away while residing at the home of her son, James and daughter-in-law, Brenda Kizewski where she was receiving hospice care.
Visitation will be at 10 o'clock Thursday, December 12 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 709 Prospect Ave., Nekoosa, WI. Funeral service will be at 11 o'clock officiated by Reverend Justin Kizewski. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids 2311 Plover Rd.
Jean was born October 9, 1933. She was the daughter of Walter Dekarske and Rose Hopp. Jean graduated high school in June 1951 at Lincoln high school in Wisconsin Rapids. She graduated May 28, 1976 from MidState Technical Institute. She was employed at AHDAWAGAM division of consolidated water, power, and Paper division as a word processor.
Jean was in the choir and played the piano and she loved music. She was an extremely devoted Green Bay Packer fan. She also loved birdwatching, flower gardening, NASCAR, shopping, watching movies, especially westerns and Lawrence Welk.
Most of all, Jean loved spending time with her family and pets. Especially when sitting around a campfire making pudgie pies. Mom's infamous statement of repeating "I hate rabbits, I hate rabbits I hate rabbits" every time the campfire smoke would blow in her face, made us all laugh and made us all follow suit. She said that caused the smoke to blow elsewhere. It never did, but we still all said it and it has passed down to the fourth generation! She also enjoyed watching holiday parades and baking desserts. She was devoted to her family and loved the Lord with all her heart.
Jean is survived by her five children James (Brenda), Thomas( Michelle), Steven, Paul(Becky),Michele(Larry).
10 grandchildren, Fr Justin, Jamie, Jenna, Jillian, Adam, Shaun, Jakob, Jesse, Madison, and Michael And 18 great grandchildren Claire,Caeli, Kateri, Anthony, Jude, Mara, Cecilia, Simon, Kolbe, Miles, Josephine, Lucia, Kristina, Kaden, Ellie, Eli, Isaiah, and John Mark.
She is survived by one brother John (Pat) Dekarske.
Jean was proceeded in death by her husband Leonard Kizewski. Her brother James Dekarske, her brother Dick Dekarske, her sister Diane Dekarske Schnell and her parents Walter Dekarske and Rose Hopp.
Our family would like to express gratitude and appreciation for the Aspirus staff in Wisconsin Rapids and Aurora Health Care staff in Sheboygan and Compassus hospice staff in Plover. So many great memories of Jean. She spent so much time helping me decorate, playing with the kids and even taught me to make her famous gravy. She will forever be in my heart! Love, Judy
