Caroline Rebecca Carne Morris, 76, of Smithfield, VA passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. She was born at Fort Myer in Arlington, Virginia to the late William Benton Carne and Betty Moore Hall.
Caroline graduated from Christopher Newport College with a bachelor’s in history, but her true passion was her family. Caroline and her husband, Roy, started their family in 1977 with their daughter, Katharine, and then completed it in 1980 with their son, Jonathan. Then when her children grew up, they had children of their own making her a “Mamaw” and recently made her a Great-Mamaw this March.
Caroline enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren grow up in their home in Smithfield along with caring for wildlife such as her beloved deer and birds. Caroline rescued many cats, dogs, and rabbits and always made room for anymore that needed a home.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Roy B. Morris; daughter, Katharine Owens (Brian Owens); son, Jonathan Morris (Angela Morris); grandchildren, Sabrina Dooley (Sean Dooley), Christopher Owens, Faith Morris, Jacob Morris, Asher Morris, Bella Sims, Micayela Sims, Sophie Sims, Lauryn Hill, and Lyla Hill; great grandson, Jameson “Jamie” Dooley; and a brother John Carne (Ana Montiel).
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025, 2 p.m. at Littles Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA. The family will receive friends following the service until 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
