Carolyn died March 24, 2025, at the age of 102. She was born in Barnwell, SC to John Douglas Robison and Drucilla Mary Peter Robison then moved with her parents to Columbia, SC when she was 2 years old. She graduated from Queens College in Charlotte, NC and later married Emmett Barlow on August 18, 1945. They moved to Atlanta after he was discharged as a major from the army.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Emmett. She is survived by her two sons, Douglas R. Barlow and Dr. Richard E. Barlow and nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. Carolyn, a full-time mother and homemaker was active in church circles at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, volunteered at Piedmont Hospital, was troop leader for Cub Scouts, and enjoyed gardening.
She and Emmett had an active social life playing poker with groups of friends and attending Georgia Tech football games, Atlanta Symphony concerts, Theater of the Stars performances, and more. Carolyn was a warm hostess for dinner parties and other gatherings.
After she and Emmett became empty nesters, they spent most weekends on their houseboat at the University Yacht Club on Lake Lanier and were able to enjoy a lot of traveling together and made many friends on cruises all around the world.
