Carolyn J. Beneke, the heart and strength of her family, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on December 8, 2025, in
Niles, Michigan. Born on August 21, 1945, in the picturesque town of
Petoskey, Michigan, Carolyn's life journey was one of love, devotion, and joy shared with those around her. She was the cherished daughter of the late Carl and Marguerite (Wallaker) Weaver, whose legacy she carried forward with grace and kindness.
Carolyn's heart found its match in Ralph Wayne Beneke, whom she married on August 25, 1962, in Honor, Michigan, after a whirlwind romance of just twelve dates. Their union was a testament to true love and partnership until Ralph's passing in 2022. Though she was also preceded in death by her three brothers and three sisters, Carolyn's memory will continue to live on through her loving family.
She is survived by her three daughters, Laura Beneke (Mike Noppenberger) of Westville, Florida, Kim Walter (Eric Toth) of South Bend, Indiana and Michelle (Kevin) Rems of Mishawaka, Indiana. Carolyn treasured her role as "Grandma" to six grandchildren and "Gigi" to five great-grandchildren. She was incredibly proud of each one, delighting in their accomplishments and cherishing every moment spent together. Her brother, DuWayne (Jean) Weaver of Traverse City, and sisters, Elaine Putney of Benzonia, Michigan, and Carol Achels of Ithaca, Michigan, along with numerous nieces and nephews, will hold her memory dear.
Carolyn's professional life was marked by her commitment to excellence as a quality control auditor at Modineer Manufacturing, from which she retired after many years of dedicated service. Her colleagues knew she brought integrity to the workplace every day and she was known for her uncanny ability to spot a defective part with just a glance. She was admired for her honesty, reliability and the pride she took in her work.
Carolyn's faith was not something she spoke of often, but rather something she lived out every day. It was a quiet strength that guided her choices and shaped her character. Those who knew her saw it in her unwavering reliability, her high ethical standards, and her deep sense of responsibility to her family, her work, and her friends. Her life was a testament to the values she held dear-integrity, kindness, and devotion.
An enthusiast of life's simple pleasures, Carolyn enjoyed mushroom hunting, taking leisurely drives through the countryside, and cherished evenings at the drive-in theatre. She took great pleasure in mowing the lawn, making her famous macaroni salad for family gatherings and searching for, and finding, numerous four-leaf clovers to gift to her loved ones. Her collection of bells, angels, and heart-shaped rocks were a testament to the things that brought joy to her life.
A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Niles with a time of visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m. A private interment will be held at Silverbrook Cemetery at a later date.
