Carolyn Melba Bunten, age 86, passed away March 14, 2024 at her home in Doe Valley, TN. Carolyn was born October 7, 1937 to the late Paul and Doris Bunten. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Bunten.
Carolyn enjoyed her job working for the government and after retirement she enjoyed babysitting and helping with the Relay for Life fundraiser. She was the heart of the family with such a loving and caring heart. She was like a second mom to all her nieces and nephews. She loved helping people and being part of the WMU. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memories include her sister-in-law, Barbara Bunten; nieces and nephews, Deniece Norris, Debbie Swift and fiancé Allen Lipford, David Bunten, Lakisha Bunten, Dessarai Burgess and husband Dustin and their son, Dawson, Daniel Swift and wife Auburni; very special cousin, Sandra Oliver; several other cousins; beloved companions, Gabby, Holly, Murph, and Lulu.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Gale Hartley officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be David Bunten, Daniel Swift, Dustin Burgess, John Brookshire, Charles Oliver, and Dennis Mason. Honorary pallbearers are the members of her Sunday school class at Bethany Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 5950 Hwy 67 W., Mountain City, TN 37683.
At other times, friends and family may visit the home at 1854 Campbell Road, Mountain City, TN 37683.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all medical personnel who cared for Carolyn.
