Carolyn Cox Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tucker, Yocum, & Wilson Funeral Home on Mar. 1, 2026.
Carolyn Lee Barker Cox, widow of Raymond Cox, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 28, 2026, in Shelbyville, Kentucky.

Born on March 5, 1933, in Scott County, Carolyn was the beloved daughter of the late Sterling and Clara Newton Barker. She dedicated many years of faithful service as a Teller/Customer Service at Whitaker Bank before retiring.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Carolyn was a longtime member of Gano Baptist Church, where she found strength, fellowship, and joy. Her love for her church family was evident in the way she lived her life - with kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion.

Carolyn was truly a friend to everyone she met. She never knew a stranger and had a remarkable way of making people feel welcomed and loved. Her greatest joys were her family, her church, and the many friendships she cherished throughout her life.

In earlier years, Carolyn and her beloved husband Raymond shared a love for travel, creating a lifetime of treasured memories.

A pillar of her community, Carolyn's warmth, faith, and gentle spirit touched countless lives. She will be forever loved and deeply missed by all who knew her.

Carolyn will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Bette McKinney, stepdaughter, Diana (Rollie) Marshall, her niece (caregiver), Bettina (Ricky) Sharp, three grandchildren, Maria Hubbard, Tara (Brandon) Henderson, Alex Williams, and four great grandchildren, Ella Hubbard, Aidan Hubbard, Kenadie Henderson, and Emerysn Evans along with many friends.

Besides her parents, Carolyn was proceeded in her passing by her daughter, Lisa Carol Williams, two brothers, Bobby Barker and Sonny Barker, two sisters, Theressa LaFontaine and Josie Moore, and one grandson, Andrew Hubbard.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Gano Baptist Church, the funeral service will follow right after at 1:00 PM at Gano Baptist Church with Harry Hargis officiating and the burial will follow to Georgetown Cemetery with Larry Baker, Terry LaFontaine, Chip Barker, Alan Barker, Brandon Henderson and Ricky Sharp serving as pallbearers.

Special thanks to Hometown Manor in Georgetown and Shelbyville for the love and care they showed Carolyn.

In Lieu of Flowers, the family has asked for donations to go to Maggie's Light, 493 Morris Rd, Sadieville, Kentucky, 40370.

Friends and family are encouraged to leave messages of condolences and memories here on Carolyn's Tribute Wall.
