Carolyn Dixon Obituary

Visit the Flanders Powell Funeral Home & Crematory website to view the full obituary.

Carolyn Reagan Dixon, 90, of Guyton, Georgia entered into her heavenly home on Thursday, November 20, 2025. A true force of nature, she was known for her unwavering faith, tireless work ethic, and fierce love for her family.

Born on July 24, 1935 to the late Norman L. Sr. and Emmie Cooper Reagan. She was preceded in death by her sons, Emory “Frank” Dixon and Gerald W. Dixon, Sr. (Ann); her sisters, Dorothy McBride and Mary Ellen Morgan; her brothers, Robert L. Reagan “Bubba” and Norman L. Reagan Jr. “N.L.”; and the father of her children, Willard Dixon.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Judy Idris, and her sons, Gary Dixon and William Dixon (Denise). She leaves behind a cherished legacy in her grandchildren: Rosie Idris, Alicia Klimas (Justin), Malik Idris, Miranda, Cheyanne Dixon (Matthew), Hollie Dixon (Matthew), Skye Ruiz (Brandon), Lacey Dixon (Richard), Leana Radcliffe (Nathan), Matthew Dixon (Cailee), Melissa Dixon (Cedric Bell), Gerald “Chip” Dixon Jr. (Sarah), Devin Chance (Herbert), and Jeremy Dixon Sr. (Creshawn). Her great-grandchildren, Josie, Reagan, and Emory Radcliffe, along with 36 other great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren will carry her memory forward.

Living in Burke County, Georgia, her early life was spent on the farm. She was far more than a homemaker; she worked side by side with whatever work had to be done: harvesting crops, purchasing essential farm equipment, managing the finances, and keeping everyone fed with her incredible cooking. Farm hands cherished her meals, especially the kind that prompted the family adage, "around grandma, chicken didn't have a chance."

Carolyn’s ambition and dedication were evident throughout her diverse career. She transitioned from farming to working as a secretary in a medical office in Dublin, later working for Edwards Warren Tire Company, and finally dedicating her skills as a housekeeper and seamstress for her cherished church family.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She loved serving at Corinth Christian and Guyton Christian Church and was a constant presence there whenever the doors were open. A gifted musician, she sang in the choir, lending her voice as a harmonizing alto, and served as an Elder within the church. She possessed the unique talent of playing the piano beautifully by ear, sticking only to the black keys.

Carolyn will be remembered for her vibrant energy. She was a woman who never sat still, and she always believed in doing something the right way. Her legendary caramel pound cake and Brunswick stew were always in high demand. Though she possessed a stubborn streak and wouldn't back down when she knew she was right, that same conviction fueled her relentless devotion to those she loved. Her favorite pastimes included thrift shopping and tending to her beautiful yard.

Above all, she loved her kids and grandkids more than anything, and her genuine warmth extended to anyone around her.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 26th, at 11:00 AM at Guyton Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mercy Ships online at Mercy Ships or by mail at Mercy Ships, P.O.Box 2020, Garden Valley, TX 75771 or to the Alzheimer's Association online at Alzheimer's Association or by mail at Alzheimer's Association P.O. Box 96011. Washington, DC 20090-6011, two organizations that were near to her heart.
