George William Sims Jr., beloved father, son, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19th, 2025, at the age of 56. Born on Thursday, February 20th, 1969, in Savannah, Georgia, George spent his life bringing smiles and warmth to everyone around him.
A current resident of Pembroke, GA, George carried his Southern roots proudly throughout his lifetime. He dedicated 10 years to proudly serving his country in the United States Navy. After his military service, George found his calling as a car salesman.
George’s heart was full when surrounded by his children: Nathan Sims, Ethan Sims and his wife Jalyn, Megan Sims, and Chris Prickett. His family was the core of his life, as he was tirelessly devoted to creating a warm, loving environment for them.
He is survived by his children; his loving mother, Janet Sims; and the mother of his children, Melinda Sims. His legacy continues through his nephews, Hunter Bragg and Brock Bragg (wife, Kaira Bragg); his great-nephew, Waylon Bragg; and his brother-in-law, Buck Bragg—all of whom will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his father, George William Sims Sr.; his sister, Darlene Bragg; and his grandparents, Clayton and Mildred Strickland, and Travis Sr. and Laura Sims.
George was a community staple, a member of Beulah Baptist Church and a former Deacon at Wadley Baptist Church. His days were filled with joy through the simple pleasures of life—whether he was playing golf, fishing, or enjoying sweet tea. He was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves, indulging in the excitement of every game. A passion for drag racing was shared with his father, leading to countless cherished memories. In his earlier years, George played baseball in high school and later continued playing softball in the community.
George will be remembered by his family and friends as someone who was full of life, with a generous spirit that brightened the lives of others. His infectious smile and love for watching the weather will remain in the hearts of those he touched.
