Carolyn Ann (Pendergast) Fairbanks, 80, of W. Phoenix, NY, passed away suddenly on Wednesday Dec. 4, 2024 at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, NY. She was born in Fulton, NY to her late parents Gertrude K. (Wojcik) and Paul E. Pendergast on May 5, 1944. She was a graduate of Phoenix Central Schools class of 1962, and later O. C. C..
Carolyn was a homemaker and very active parishioner of St. Stephen's Church, Phoenix including the Altar Rosary Society and receiving the Immaculata Award in 2019. She enjoyed many relationships with family and church and community friends. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family and enjoyed vegetable gardening.
Predeceased by her husband of nearly 59 years, Gary E. Fairbanks in 2023; her son Gerald Fairbanks in 1990. Her parents Gertrude and Paul both passed in 2002.
Surviving are her daughter Dr. Lauri Fairbanks-Doane (Bob) of Phoenix, her son Mark S. (Sarah) Fairbanks of Marathon, NY, her daughter Brenda (Nathan) Tomkins of Trumansburg, NY; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren one sister Rosemary (Allen) Narewski of Phoenix; a brother Stephen J. Pendergast of Peru, NY; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours are on Monday Dec. 9, 2024 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix, NY. The funeral mass will be on Tuesday Dec. 10, 2024 at 10 a.m.in St. Stephen's Church, 469 Main St., Phoenix, NY with the Rev. Joseph E. Scardella officiating and Deacon Jeffrey Dean assisting.
Burial to follow in Pendergast Cemetery, 9368 River Road, W. Phoenix, NY
Contributions in Carolyn's memory to: St. Stephen's Church, 469 Main St., or the Phoenix Fire Dept., 457 Main St. or the Phoenix Area Food Pantry,43 Bridge St., all in Phoenix, NY 13135. Website for FH is agtfuneralhome.com
