Carolyn Joan Friedel, 76, of Gatchel, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Oakwood Health Campus.
She was born on September 8, 1948, daughter of the late Casper L. & Mary E. (Elverd) Aders. Joan was united in marriage to Anthony Friedel Sr. on December 16, 1967.
Joan enjoyed being outside taking care of her flowers, gardening, and mowing her grass. She dabbled in photography, capturing pictures of her favorites, hummingbirds and bluebirds. Joan was also a collector of many things and enjoyed painting statues. She loved her old country music, especially Loretta Lynn and could play a few strings on her guitar. Joan was an animal lover and gave refuge to many animals over the years, especially her dogs and cats.
Joan is survived by her husband of 57 years, Tony Friedel; children, Anthony "Butch" Friedel, Jr. (Maxine) of Gatchel and Lynn Daverin (Scott) of Leopold; grandchildren, Tiffany Rasche, Cody Englert, Chloe Friedel, Gaige Friedel; great grandchildren, Aubrey Rasche, Weston Rasche, Nyles Enlgert, Nixon Englert, Nina Englert, Grayson Friedel, and Declan Friedel; siblings, Jerry Aders (Mabel) of St. Meinrad, Rick Aders (Rita) of Bristow, Bonnie Aders of Gatchel, Vicky Aders of Bristow, Lori Aders (Norman) of Apalona, and Linda Schaefer (Scott) of St. Meinrad.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her siblings, Jimmy Aders, Sharon Walker, Marilyn Jarboe, and David Aders Sr.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 6, 2025, in Bristow Cemetery, with Bro. David Hayes officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Rivers Edge Animal Shelter.
